In season
I was in my neighborhood shoe store, a national chain, looking for rain boots. Hundreds and hundreds of nice shoes, and not a single pair that would withstand a muddy soccer field on a cold day. At the counter with several pairs of sock, I asked the clerk if he knew where I could find rainboots. He smiled and said he didn't know, but they had them a few weeks ago. "We tend to stock a season ahead," he said with a condescending smile.
"Hello?" I gestured outside, where it was 45 degrees and rainy. "Do you think it rains only in the spring?" Rainboots are a year round necessity, and I resent snotty, snooty stores that dictate when I need something.
Rain is always in season.

Are there people in the world who all follow that "season ahead" schedule and I have somehow missed the memo? Fall clothing goes on sale before July 4th (the hottest months of the year are August and Sept). Spring and summer wear go on sale Jan. 1st (Jan & Feb being the coldest months of the year, we certainly all need shorts!). I get pretty good deals on the stuff I buy, because it is already on clearance. But I don't get the best selection - or certain items that I need right then. Like rain boots.
I'm with you. Also, sent you an email. Hope soccer is going well.
